Once again the Pythons were blessed with excellent weather for the 5th annual Golf Day at Oakdale Golf Club which raised around £8,000 for club funds. The event has become a vital contributor to the club allowing us to continue strengthening the player experience for our two teams as well as the brand new minis section.

Registration for the 25 teams competing began with bacon butties and coffees from 11:00am and a shotgun start at 1:00pm with golfers teeing off from all corners of the course.

Despite the large field, all teams were safely back at the 19th hole in good time for post-match hydration and to exchange tales of great shots, near misses and complete disasters. This was followed by an excellent dinner, auction lots and prize giving.

The evening’s proceedings were once again expertly compered by Pete Emmett who entertained the guests with his quick wit and interesting observations about some of the players!

The Pythons Chairman Julian Tatlow gave a “state of the nation” talk on the clubs current position, including the first teams most successful season ever in Yorkshire 1 and setting out the exciting plans for next season including new players and coaches as well as the previously mentioned minis section.

PDS  were the overall winners of the Slingsby’s Café Claret Jug with Birdies & Bubbles taking the honours in the Ladies competition.

Congratulations to all our winners on the day and more importantly to everyone who contributed so generously through sponsorship, donations, shenanigans and auction purchases. Your efforts during our 5 Golf Days to-date have cleared well over £30,000 for the club!
