Saturday 10th October 2026 - KO 2:00pm
RFU Northern Division Counties 1 Yorkshire
Welcome to Goole RUFC’s players, supporters and Committee Members for the first meeting of our clubs this season. In our fixtures last season we both had home wins so it should be a competitive game today. In their last league fixture this season Goole won away at Keighley 14-29 . The Pythons beat Bridlington at home 44-13. Both teams have 10 league point and top Yorkshire 1.
This is our second home game following the delayed start to the season. We will be kicking off all our home games for the season at 2pm, something other league members are doing and something our players certainly support. Welcome too to Simon Pratt and his guests joining us for the lunch
Our referee for today is Graeme Hall – not his first time refereeing our 1st XV, good to see you again Graeme. Big thanks to Dan Scott for being our touch judge today, did you manage to find those boots Dan?
Thanks to our great coaching team we’re applying the lessons learned in the training sessions and things are beginning to come together, let’s hope for a positive start to the season.
Dates for your diary – we’re holding our Annual Dinner with Chris Ashton speaking and John Inverdale MC’ing on 15th October, tickets 55.00 at The Old Swan Hotel – places still available, ‘Lunch With……….’ Warren Gatland at William & Victorias on 12th November, Annual Golf Day on 24th June at Oakdale Golf Club – see our web site for details.
Thanks to today's match ball sponsors The Harrogate Round Table.
With a bit of luck the weather holds fair and we’ll enjoy the game. Best of luck to both sides.
Julian Tatlow
Chairman, Harrogate Pythons RUFC
Message From our DoR Tom Baxter
It’s fantastic to see you all down again in what promises to be another thriller of a game.
This week our 1st XV go head to head with Goole in an early season top of the table clash being the only two teams to maximum points from their opening fixtures.
Despite the numerous injuries we have received in the last two weeks, our thoughts with Sam Beagrie and Jack Whiting wishing them a speedy recovery, the depth of the squad is stronger than ever and we are able to field another exciting side today!
A huge congratulations to Marcel Kaminski on his 1XV debut with the club last week, he has worked incredibly hard in the 2XV and at training and took his opportunity well which sees him retain his sport this week. In addition, we welcome Dylan Wepener who also makes his 1XV debut in the backline today, we are looking forward to seeing the energy and enthusiasm he can bring to us from the back field!
The 2XV head to local rivals Knaresborough in counties 4 hoping to notch up their first win in the league and get their campaign started against our local neighbours.
A huge thankyou to all our supporters last week cheering the side on, it makes a huge difference to the players hearing the roars echoing around JSG - I am sure you will emulate that for us again today!
Enjoy the rugby today and we look forward to seeing you all in the clubhouse after the game!
